BE LIKE JESUS
Do you know that when you become like Jesus, the world will become better and every evil thing will stop? In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul said that we should become like him, as he imitated Jesus. In our life, we have got to:
- Think like Jesus
- Feel like Jesus
- Act like Jesus
What you’ve been isn’t important, but what you’ve done and what you’re going to do is important. You cannot change your past, but your present which reflects on your future. A student is not better than the teacher, but a student can be trained to become like the teacher. In the same way, we aren’t better than God but by training ourselves, we can be just like Him. We should examine our lives daily. We need to ask ourselves whether Jesus would do this or that.
Success in life is through Jesus. There is no other way to live a successful life. Don’t be discouraged about your God-given life, because Jesus was not. For example, in regard to “looks”, some people might think they don’t look good. Genesis I: 27 says that God created man in His image. God is beautiful, so man is beautiful too. It is the “wrong” in your life that makes you ugly. As you change your character, you become better. No matter how good you look, if your character is bad then you aren’t beautiful.
Mathew 7: 1, says “Do not judge or you too will be judged”. In our lives, we’ve got to compare ourselves with Jesus instead of people. What we think, feel and act should be based on what Jesus would do. Jesus said you should know what is right and wrong. You should not think or say anything about a person on how they should be. Matthew 7:3-5 tells us how we should be fixing our lives instead of that of others. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye”. The Pharisees always looked into other lives and thought they were highly honoured by God but actually, they were only honoured by men.
Love and forgiveness are the most important thing that we need to practice, being like Jesus. In Luke 6:32-34, we read that loving those who are loving towards us does not give us any credit, but Jesus says to love the people who hate us because when they feel our love, it will change them and make them love others too. If you only love those who love you, what benefit does it do to those who hate? The people who hate will continue to hate even more which may make them do something really bad. You have to forgive the person who wronged you.
It is a big choice to make, to forgive someone. The wrong they did to you disturbs you so bad that you cannot forgive but when you just forgive, things will be better for you and for other people.
So, to become like Jesus you have got to think, feel and act like Jesus, change your character and personality and not be judging but loving and forgiving.
